Nearly a third of canton Zug comes from somewhere else, and the schools reflect it — IB at ISZL, Cambridge IGCSE on the Zugerberg, a bilingual primary in Rotkreuz and a Kantonsschule that admits without an entrance exam. We assign a tutor who has taught your child's actual syllabus, at your kitchen table in Baar or online, for the same price.
Prepaid hours from CHF 85, all-in. Term restarts in Zug on Monday 17 August 2026.

Tutoring in Zug
A tutor in Zug costs CHF 85, CHF 95 or CHF 130 per 60 minutes with Good Tutors Finder, all-in, set by your child's age and the work rather than by where you live. Buying hours in a prepaid package of 5, 10 or 20 lowers that figure — ten Specialist hours are CHF 810, which is CHF 81 an hour. Lessons at home in Zug, Baar or Cham cost exactly what the same lesson costs online.

30%
of canton Zug's 130,000 residents hold a passport from one of more than 160 countries, and roughly one person in seven speaks mainly English. This is why the tutoring here is international-curriculum work.
17 August
Term restarts across Zug's communal schools on Monday 17 August 2026. A family arriving in July has about four weeks.
No Gymi exam
Zug admits to the Gymnasium through an assessment procedure, not a central entrance exam like Zurich's ZAP. Nobody in Zug needs to cram for one.
6300–6345
Tutors travel across the whole canton — the city, the Ennetsee communes and both Ägeri villages — and online reaches the rest of Switzerland at the same price.
What Zug families ask for most
The schools here
Zug is unusual: four different examination systems run inside twenty minutes of each other. A tutor who knows "maths" is not the same as a tutor who knows MYP criterion C, IGCSE Extended tier or a Maturaarbeit. We assign on the school and the year group, so tell us both.
Early Years to Grade 8, around 800 students, on the IB Primary Years and Middle Years Programmes. Most of our Baar work is MYP: criterion-referenced marking explained in plain English, the personal project, and the step from MYP 5 into the Diploma.
Grades 9 to 12, around 400 students, IB Diploma. The school publishes an average Diploma score of 35, which sets the bar a family is usually aiming at when they call us in DP1.
The one school in the canton running Cambridge IGCSE, in Grades 9 and 10, feeding the IB Diploma in Grades 11 and 12 — alongside a Swiss Gymnasium track with the Matura and the bilingual Matura. Boarding and day, eight minutes up on the Zugerbergbahn.
Bilingual German and English from age 3 to 16, with one German-speaking and one English-speaking teacher per class. Families here most often want the weaker of the two languages brought up before it starts costing marks in other subjects.
The cantonal Gymnasium route, taught in German, leading to the Swiss Matura. We work with the international family whose child has moved onto the Swiss track and is carrying the subject and the language at the same time.
Zug has more than thirty schools once the communal and bilingual primaries are counted. Tell us the school and the year group and we will tell you which curriculum your child is on, whether that is Foundation or Specialist and what it costs — before you buy anything.
The question we get asked most
No. Canton Zug has no central entrance examination of the kind Zurich runs. Admission to the Zug Gymnasium goes through the cantonal Übertrittsverfahren — school marks, the class teacher's assessment, a conversation with parents and a decision by an Übertrittskommission. There is nothing to sit and nothing to cram.
This matters commercially as well as practically, because families arriving from Zurich, or from abroad after reading a Zurich-centred guide, routinely try to buy something that does not exist here. Preparation courses sold as "Gymi Zug" are preparing your child for an examination the canton does not set.
Two honest caveats. The canton put an entrance test for the Langzeitgymnasium out to consultation in 2024 and the debate is still live, so check zg.ch for the year your child transfers. And if you live in Zug but your child attends school in canton Zurich, the Zurich ZAP does apply to them — that is a different exam with a different calendar.
If your child is heading for a Zurich Gymnasium instead, the ZAP is real and dated. ZAP preparation in English and Gymi preparation cover it.
Prices and packages
The same three tiers apply everywhere in Switzerland — Zug does not carry a city premium and there is no surcharge for the drive out to Walchwil. Foundation and Specialist are set by your child's age and the complexity of the work. Distinction works differently — it is our most accomplished tutors, and you can choose it on any work, at any level. The discount is for paying upfront, not for buying in bulk.
Foundation — CHF 85 an hour. Any subject, any curriculum, for a learner aged 10 or under — most of our PYP and lower-MYP work in Baar. Plus true-beginner German or French at CEFR A1–A2, at any age, including the newly-arrived parent.

How long you have
There are two clocks and they do different things. The short one protects the rate you paid. The long one is how long the value stays on your account. Most of this market publishes neither.
Canton Zug's published holiday plan for the 2026/27 school year. These are the dates the best-rate clock stops on a package bought by a Zug family. Zurich, Schwyz and Luzern all differ, which is exactly why we run this on your own canton rather than an average.

Cantonal school-free days on top of the above: 8 December 2026 (Mariä Empfängnis), 26 March 2027 (Good Friday), 29 March 2027 (Easter Monday), 17 May 2027 (Whit Monday) and 27 May 2027 (Corpus Christi). Dates as published by the canton for 2026/27; individual communes and the international schools set their own terms, so check your child's school calendar as well as this one.
Every figure on this page is in Swiss francs, all-in, per 60 minutes, correct as of August 2026, and identical at home and online. Full grid on the tutoring prices page.
Where the money goes
We are not the cheapest tutoring in the canton and we do not try to be. Zug is a small market with a lot of money in it, which is precisely why it is worth being specific about what the price covers.
Not 45. Providers around the lake quote in 45-, 60- and 90-minute units interchangeably, so headline prices here are rarely comparable. Ours is always the full hour, with the per-hour figure under every package price.
MYP criterion C and IGCSE Extended tier are not the same job, and both are taught within a few kilometres of each other in this canton. We assign on curriculum, level and board.
If the first lesson on your package is not right, you choose: the whole package refunded to your card, or a different tutor with that hour credited back. No conditions on either.
Every tutor is employed through CANICET GmbH — a Zug company — with social contributions, accident cover and liability insurance carried by us. Hiring privately means carrying those obligations yourself.
Subjects
Zug's demand does not look like Zurich's. There is no ZAP here, so the entrance-exam volume is missing; what replaces it is Diploma work, the IGCSE year at Montana, and the language load carried by children moving between English, German and a third language at school.
Analysis and Approaches or Applications and Interpretation, Standard or Higher, plus MYP maths and Matura Mathematik. The single most-requested subject in the canton.
Biology, chemistry and physics at IB Standard and Higher Level and at IGCSE, including the internal assessment and the practical write-up that carries a fifth of the grade.
Two different jobs: English as an examined subject — IB English A and B, IGCSE, A-Level Literature — and English as the language a newly-arrived child needs in order to access everything else.
Arrival German for the family that has just landed, at Foundation rates for a true beginner at any age, and school German for the child on the Kantonsschule track carrying subject content in a second language.
Six subjects plus the core. Internal Assessments, the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge, command terms and mark-scheme practice, from DP1 September through to the May session.
Criterion-referenced assessment translated into something a parent can act on, personal-project support, and the gap between MYP 5 at the Zug Campus and DP1 at Riverside.
How it works
Three steps, and the first takes two minutes. You book online yourself — we will never put a charge through on your behalf.
Across the canton
Canton Zug is eleven communes and about twenty-five minutes end to end, so a tutor at your table is a realistic option almost everywhere in it. The online price is identical, so distance never changes what you pay.

If it goes wrong
The strongest thing we can tell you about a first lesson is what happens if it disappoints you. When it does, you choose which of the first two applies — we do not choose for you.
If the first lesson on your package does not meet your expectations for tutor knowledge or professionalism, we refund the whole package to your card — including the hour you had. No questions, no conditions, nothing to argue about.
Would you rather stay? We assign a different tutor and credit that hour straight back to your package. Your choice, not ours — and you can ask for a different tutor at any later point too, at no cost.
Bought a package and had second thoughts before starting? A full refund to your card within 14 days, provided no lesson has been taken. Switzerland gives no statutory right of withdrawal online — this one is ours, voluntarily.
Cancel or reschedule until 17:00 the day before and the hour is not deducted from your package. Children get ill and school trips move; that is not something to be charged for. No minimum term, no notice period, no enrolment fee.

We have been extremely pleased with Good Tutors Finder. Our daughter's tutor understands the IB Maths syllabus very well and quickly identified the areas where she needed more support. The lessons are focused, well prepared and include plenty of exam-style practice. Her confidence has improved enormously.
Rachel P. · Zug · Online IB Maths tuition
We contacted Good Tutors Finder for support with Swiss Matura Mathematics and have had a very positive experience. The tutor explains difficult concepts step by step and makes sure our son really understands them before moving on. He is now much more confident and better organised in his preparation.
Michael B. · Lucerne · Online Swiss Matura Mathematics tuition
Finding someone who genuinely understood the IGCSE curriculum was very important to us. The tutor has been excellent across Biology and Chemistry, explaining difficult topics clearly and helping our daughter apply her knowledge to past-paper questions. We are very happy with the progress she has made.

Questions
A tutor in Zug costs CHF 85, CHF 95 or CHF 130 per 60 minutes with Good Tutors Finder, all-in, depending on your child's age and the work. Buying a prepaid package lowers that figure — ten Specialist hours are CHF 810, which is CHF 81 an hour. There is no Zug premium and no travel surcharge anywhere in the canton, and the online price is identical.
No. Canton Zug has no central entrance examination comparable to Zurich's ZAP. Admission to the Zug Gymnasium runs through the cantonal Übertrittsverfahren: school marks, the class teacher's assessment, a conversation with parents, an Abklärungstest where the picture is unclear, and a decision by an Übertrittskommission. An entrance test for the Langzeitgymnasium went to consultation in 2024 and the debate continues, so confirm the rule for the year your child transfers. If your child attends school in canton Zurich, the ZAP does apply to them.
The main ones are ISZL's Zug Campus in Baar (IB Primary Years and Middle Years, Early Years to Grade 8), ISZL's Riverside Campus in Hünenberg (IB Diploma, Grades 9 to 12), Institut Montana Zugerberg (Cambridge IGCSE in Grades 9 and 10, IB Diploma in 11 and 12, plus a Swiss Gymnasium track with the Matura and bilingual Matura) and SIS Swiss International School Rotkreuz-Zug (bilingual German-English, ages 3 to 16). The cantonal route runs through Kantonsschule Zug and Kantonsschule Menzingen.
Both, at exactly the same price. Tutors travel across the canton — the city, Baar, Cham, Steinhausen, Hünenberg, Rotkreuz, the Ägeri valley, Menzingen, Neuheim and Walchwil. There is no travel surcharge in any direction and no in-person premium. Many families in the Ägerital use online lessons through the winter and switch back in spring; the hours are the same hours either way.
Monday 17 August 2026 for the 2026/27 year. The autumn holidays run from 3 to 18 October 2026, Christmas from 19 December to 3 January, the sports holidays from 6 to 21 February 2027, spring from 17 April to 2 May, and the summer holidays from 3 July to 15 August 2027. Zug also has school-free days on 8 December, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Whit Monday and Corpus Christi. The international schools set their own terms, which do not always match.
With a curriculum-gap check rather than a subject. A child arriving from an English or American system into MYP, or from anywhere into a German-language communal school, is usually not behind — they have covered different things in a different order. A 10-hour package before or across the first term buys a diagnostic, a German or French head start at the Foundation rate, and a briefing on what your child actually meets in week one.
Your child's age and the work decide between Foundation and Specialist — never the city, the subject or whether the lesson is at home. A learner aged 10 or under is Foundation at CHF 85. From age 11, a school subject is Specialist at CHF 95 — IB Higher Level included. True-beginner German or French at CEFR A1–A2 is Foundation at any age, including for an adult. Distinction at CHF 130 is not a level above them: it is our most accomplished tutors, and you can choose it on any work, whatever your child is studying.
Yes. Every tutor teaches in English as a minimum, and German-language delivery is arranged on request — which matters in Zug, where one sibling is often at ISZL in English and another at the communal school in German. Good Tutors Finder publishes in English, German and French, and you can read this page in German or French.
Typically 48 to 72 hours from your enquiry to a named tutor, confirmed with you on WhatsApp. We assign on subject, curriculum, level and availability. Faster is sometimes possible but we will not promise it — a tutor assigned quickly to the wrong syllabus helps nobody. Families do not browse or select the tutor themselves; that is what makes it possible to send an actual Higher Level chemistry specialist rather than whoever replied first.
Tell us. If it was the first lesson on your package, you choose: we refund the whole package to your card, including that lesson, or we assign a different tutor and credit the hour back to your package. Later in a package we assign a different tutor at no cost, at any point — your hours belong to your family, never to a particular tutor.
Twelve months from the day you buy it. Inside that, a shorter clock protects the rate you paid — one month on a 5-hour package, two on a 10-hour, three on a 20-hour — and it pauses over canton Zug's school holidays, on the cantonal calendar rather than a generic Swiss one. When the rate window closes nothing is taken: the hours you have had are recalculated at the standard rate and the balance stays on your account for the rest of the year.
Neither. Good Tutors Finder is a tutoring service. You buy tuition from us, not an introduction to a stranger, and every tutor is employed through CANICET GmbH — a company registered in Zug — with social contributions, accident cover and liability insurance carried by us. Your family carries no AHV, BVG or UVG obligation at all, which is the part that catches people out when they hire a tutor privately. If you would rather talk it through before committing to anything, that costs nothing — book a tutor and tell us what your child is sitting, or send a WhatsApp message and ask first.
