What is included in a tutoring session?

Most families find that 1.5-hour sessions work well. Here is what a structured session looks like.

  1. Diagnostic opening

The tutor identifies knowledge gaps and checks alignment with the student's exam board, year group and upcoming deadlines — IA, mock exams, ZAP date.

    ~15 minutes

  2. Concept teaching

The tutor teaches or re-teaches the target topic using examples calibrated to the exact curriculum — IB HL, IGCSE, Swiss Matura or Gymi entrance standard.

    30–40 minutes

  3. Guided practice

The student works through past-paper or exam-style questions while the tutor observes, corrects and explains errors in real time.

    25–30 minutes

  4. Exam technique

The tutor reviews mark-scheme expectations, command-word interpretation and timing strategy for the relevant exam board — IBO, Cambridge, Edexcel, AQA, OCR, College Board.

    10–15 minutes

  5. Summary and next steps

The tutor summarises the session and notes what to practise before the next lesson, flagging any upcoming deadlines.

    5–10 minutes

What families say about tutoring prices in Switzerland

International-school and Swiss-school families on tutor quality, curriculum knowledge, and the assignment process.

Sandra helped us find an excellent IB Maths tutor for our son in Zürich. The tutor was professional, reliable, and really understood the IB curriculum. Within a few months, his confidence improved dramatically and his predicted grade increased from a 4 to a 6.
Charlotte Zürich · IB Maths
We were struggling to find a tutor in Geneva who understood both IGCSE Chemistry and how to work with international-school students. Good Tutors Finder assigned someone within a few days, and the experience has been fantastic from the start.
David Geneva · IGCSE Chemistry
As an expat family in Zug, we wanted someone dependable who could support our daughter with MYP English and Humanities. The process felt very organised and reassuring, and the tutor has been a brilliant fit.
Amelia Zug · MYP English & Humanities

A family's experience with tutoring prices in Switzerland

Case study

IB Maths AA HL — Zurich

Year 12 · ZIS · CHF 99/h Tier · Tutoring Plan · 8 weeks before May session

"Our son was struggling with the Paper 2 calculus questions and predicted a 4. We started at the CHF 99 tier eight weeks before the exam session. The tutor worked through past papers systematically, focused on the topics that consistently appear on IBO mark schemes, and built confidence through timed practice. Families often see steady progress within a few weeks — in our case the improvement in his mocks was visible by week four."
