What is Good Tutors Finder?
Good Tutors Finder is a Swiss tutoring service for international-school and Swiss-school families, working in every canton, at home and online. Lessons are bought as prepaid packages of 5, 10 or 20 hours at CHF 85, CHF 95 or CHF 130 an hour, set by your child's age and the level of the work. Every figure is all-in, in Swiss francs, as of August 2026.

Which curriculum does your child follow?
A tutor who knows the subject is not the same as a tutor who knows the syllabus. We assign on the curriculum, the level and the exam board — because a Paper 2 essay, an Internal Assessment and a Matura oral are three different pieces of work.
IB Diploma
Higher and Standard Level across all six groups. Internal Assessments, the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge, Paper 1 and Paper 2 technique, command terms and mark-scheme practice.
IB MYP and PYP
Criterion-referenced assessment explained in plain English, personal-project support, eAssessment preparation, and the transition from MYP 5 into the Diploma.
IGCSE
Cambridge and Edexcel. Core and Extended tiers, coursework, past-paper drilling and the June and November series. Final entries close in late February.
A-Level
AS and A2 across sciences, mathematics, economics and humanities — including Further Mathematics and the step up from IGCSE in the first term of Year 12.
Advanced Placement

True-beginner German and French language work for a newly-arrived child — or a newly-arrived parent. At CEFR A1–A2 this is our Foundation rate at any age.

Does your canton have a Gymi entrance exam?
This is the question arriving families most often get wrong, and it is nowhere clearly explained in English. Zurich runs a central entrance exam, the ZAP, sat on 8 March 2027. Basel-Stadt runs only a voluntary exam, for pupils who miss the grade threshold. Zug has no entrance exam at all — admission to the Langzeitgymnasium is prüfungsfrei. If you have moved to Zug, nobody needs to prepare for a Gymi exam.

How much does tutoring in Switzerland cost?
Tutoring with Good Tutors Finder costs CHF 85, CHF 95 or CHF 130 per 60 minutes, all-in, depending on your child's age and the level of the work. Buying hours in a prepaid package of 5, 10 or 20 lowers the hourly figure — a 10-hour Specialist package is CHF 810, which is CHF 81 an hour. The discount is for paying upfront, not for buying in bulk.

How long you have
A full year to use your package. Your best rate held for up to three months.
There are two clocks and they do different things. The short one protects the rate you paid. The long one is how long the value stays on your account. Most of this market publishes neither.
- The rate clock pauses over school holidays, automatically, on your own cantonal calendar. Zurich, Zug, Geneva, Vaud, Basel-Stadt and Ticino all differ — and Zurich runs two calendars that do not match. Nobody else in this market does this.
- One free one-month extension on the rate window, for the asking, up to 30 days before it closes. Auto-approved, and we offer it before you have to ask.
- When the rate window closes, nothing is taken. The hours you have already had are recalculated at the standard rate, and the balance stays on your account for the rest of the twelve months, used against the price at the time.
- You will hear from us long before the year is up. A reminder at nine months, another at eleven. A balance still unused after twelve months closes — but it should never come as a surprise, and it never has to happen.

Two clocks. "Best rate held for" is how long the package rate applies; that clock pauses over your canton's school holidays and can be extended once by a month, free. Separately, every package is valid for 12 months from purchase. Packages are not refunded in cash once a lesson has been taken, and unused hours cannot be cashed out — see the guarantees below for what happens instead.
Two things set the tier: the age of the learner and the complexity of the work. The city, the subject and whether the lesson is at home or online never change it. A learner aged 10 or under is Foundation; from age 11 a school subject is Specialist or above. True-beginner German or French at CEFR A1–A2 is Foundation at any age, including for adults.
Where the money goes
What CHF 95 an hour actually buys
We are not the cheapest tutoring in Switzerland and we do not try to be. Here is what the price covers, stated plainly.
A full 60 minutes
Not 45. The Swiss market quotes in three incompatible lesson units, which is why headline prices here are so hard to compare. Ours is always the full hour, and the per-hour figure sits under every package price.
A tutor who has taught the syllabus
The specialist is the product. Not a tutor — a tutor for this curriculum, this level, this exam board. We assign on those four things and nothing else.
A first lesson you cannot lose on
If the first lesson on your package is not right, you choose what happens: the whole package refunded to your card, or a different tutor with that hour credited back. No conditions on either.
An employed tutor, fully covered
Every tutor is employed through CANICET GmbH, with social contributions, accident cover and liability insurance carried by us. Hiring privately means carrying those obligations yourself.

How do you get started?
Three steps, and the first one takes two minutes. You book online yourself — we will never put a charge through on your behalf.
Tell us the three things that matter
Your child's age, the curriculum and year group, and the date you are working towards. Those three answers set the tier, the pack size and the urgency. Nobody else asks about the date.
We assign a tutor in 48–72 hours
Chosen on subject, curriculum, level and availability, then confirmed with you on WhatsApp. If the fit is not right, we reassign at no cost — your hours stay with you, never with a particular tutor.
Start with one lesson, not a leap
Your first hour is charged at that tier's 10-hour package rate — CHF 72, CHF 81 or CHF 111. If it is not right, you choose: everything you have paid refunded to your card, or a different tutor with that hour credited back. Buy a package afterwards and the hour counts towards it.
What an hour looks like
Ninety minutes at your kitchen table
Most families book 90-minute sessions, and most of those happen at home. Here is what actually fills one — not a lesson plan, just how a good hour tends to go.
- The first fifteen minutes are diagnosis. What did last week's paper actually ask, and where did the marks go?
- The middle is teaching — the specific thing that was missing, taught by someone who has taught that syllabus before.
- The last stretch is exam-level practice, under something close to real conditions, because that is where confidence comes from.
- Then a short note to you, so you can see how it went without having to ask your teenager.

How these figures were normalised. Swiss providers quote in 45-, 60- and 90-minute units interchangeably, so a "CHF 55 lesson" of 45 minutes is CHF 73.33 per 60 minutes. Every rate in this table has been converted to a 60-minute basis from publicly listed prices in August 2026, so the columns compare like with like. The agency range spans small local providers at the bottom to international premium agencies at the top. Ranges reflect the spread across providers in each category, not a single provider. Our own figures span the 20-hour Foundation package at CHF 69.50 an hour up to the single-hour Distinction rate at CHF 130.

What happens if it isn't right?
The strongest thing we can tell you about a first lesson is what happens if it disappoints you. When it does, you choose which of the first two applies — we do not choose for you.
Not right? Your money back.
If the first lesson on your package does not meet your expectations for tutor knowledge or professionalism, we refund the whole package to your card — including the hour you had. No questions, no conditions, nothing to argue about.
Or carry on with someone else.
Would you rather stay? We assign a different tutor and credit that hour straight back to your package. Your choice, not ours — and you can ask for a different tutor at any later point too, at no cost.
Fourteen days to change your mind
Bought a package and had second thoughts before starting? A full refund to your card within 14 days, provided no lesson has been taken. Switzerland gives no statutory right of withdrawal online — this one is ours, voluntarily.
Free cancellation until 17:00
Cancel or reschedule until 17:00 the day before and the hour is not deducted from your package. Children get ill and school trips move; that is not something to be charged for. No minimum term, no notice period, no enrolment fee.

How much does tutoring cost in Switzerland?
Tutoring with Good Tutors Finder costs CHF 85, CHF 95 or CHF 130 per 60 minutes, all-in, depending on your child's age and the level of the work. Buying a prepaid package lowers that figure: ten Specialist hours cost CHF 810, which is CHF 81 an hour. Across the wider Swiss market, published rates run from about CHF 20 to CHF 260 per 60 minutes.
How long do I have to use a package?
Twelve months from the day you buy it. Inside that, a shorter clock protects the rate you paid — one month on a 5-hour package, two on a 10-hour, three on a 20-hour — and it pauses over your canton's school holidays. When the rate window closes nothing is taken: the hours you have had are recalculated at the standard rate and the balance stays on your account for the rest of the year.
Is it cheaper online than at home?
No — the price is identical. A lesson at your kitchen table in Geneva and a lesson online cost exactly the same, anywhere in Switzerland. There is no travel surcharge and no in-person premium. Some Swiss providers charge CHF 30 to CHF 45 more per hour for face-to-face tuition; we do not, because you should not pay for a tutor's commute.
Which tier will my child be in?
Two things decide it: your child's age and the complexity of the work. A learner aged 10 or under is Foundation at CHF 85. From age 11, a school subject is Specialist at CHF 95. The most demanding work — IB Higher Level, advanced Matura, competitive university admissions — is Distinction at CHF 130. True-beginner German or French is Foundation at any age.
How long does it take to get a tutor?
Typically 48 to 72 hours from your enquiry to a named tutor, confirmed with you on WhatsApp. We assign on subject, curriculum, level and availability. Faster is sometimes possible, but we will not promise it — a tutor assigned quickly to the wrong syllabus helps nobody. Families do not browse or select the tutor themselves.
What if the tutor is not the right fit?
Tell us. If it was the first lesson on your package, you choose: we refund the whole package to your card, including that lesson, or we assign a different tutor and credit the hour back to your package. Later in a package we assign a different tutor at no cost, at any point — your hours belong to your family, never to a particular tutor.
Can I get a refund?
Yes, in two situations. Before any lesson is taken, a package is refunded in full to your card within 14 days of purchase, no questions asked. And if the first lesson on your package is not right, we refund the whole package to your card, including that lesson. After that, packages are not refunded in cash and unused hours cannot be cashed out — instead we assign a different tutor at no cost.
Is the price I see the price I pay?
Yes. Every figure on this page is one all-in amount in Swiss francs, and it is the same amount on your receipt. Nothing is added at checkout. There is no registration fee, no enrolment fee, no admin fee, no travel surcharge and no minimum term, and the figure does not change between a lesson at home and a lesson online.
How long is a lesson?
The default session is 90 minutes and you may choose 60. The price per hour is identical either way, and packages are sold in hours rather than in lessons — ten hours is ten hours, however you split it. A 90-minute session usually runs as diagnosis, then teaching, then exam-level practice.
Do you prepare children for the Gymi exam?
Yes, in Zurich, where the central entrance exam (ZAP) is sat on 8 March 2027 with registration open from 1 January to 10 February. Basel-Stadt runs only a voluntary exam for pupils who miss the grade threshold. Zug has no entrance exam at all — admission there is prüfungsfrei, so no preparation is needed.
Which cities do you cover?

We are an English-first service built for the international community, with German- and French-language delivery arranged on request.
Can we choose our own tutor?
No, and that is deliberate. Good Tutors Finder is a tutoring service, not a directory of strangers to sort through. We assign the tutor on subject, curriculum, level and availability, which is how a family gets a Higher Level chemistry specialist rather than whoever answered first. If the fit is wrong, we reassign at no cost. If you would rather talk it through before committing to anything, that costs nothing — book a tutor and tell us what your child is sitting, or send a WhatsApp message and ask first.
