This is how every IB tutor Switzerland assignment is backed — and why we invest time in assigning the right specialist for your child's exact subject, level, and exam board before the first session takes place.

Most IB tutor assignments are completed within 48 to 72 hours of submitting the booking form. We confirm the tutor, the first session date, and the schedule by WhatsApp. For urgent requests — for example, with IA deadlines or mock exams approaching — we acknowledge the timeline when you contact us, though same-day assignment is not something we commit to.

Free cancellation until 17:00 the day before the session. There is no long-term commitment required and no penalty for cancelling within that window. If your child's schedule changes, you can adjust, pause, or stop sessions at any time.

At-home or online — same price, same standards. Both delivery modes use the same tutors, the same session structure, and the same assignment criteria. Online sessions are conducted via Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams, with shared-screen functionality for working through problems. Many IB families across Zug, Lausanne, and Bern prefer online sessions for scheduling flexibility, especially during the intensive revision period before May exams.

Yes. Internal Assessment guidance, Extended Essay supervision, and Theory of Knowledge support are available for most IB subjects. These components carry significant weight in the final IB score and benefit from specialist input early in the process — ideally from the start of Year 12 for the IA and EE, rather than in the weeks before submission.

Analysis and Approaches (AA) is the more traditionally academic pathway, with greater emphasis on algebraic manipulation, proof, and abstract reasoning — suited to students considering mathematics, engineering, physics, or economics at university. Applications and Interpretation (AI) places greater emphasis on statistical analysis, modelling, and technology use — suited to students heading towards social sciences, business, geography, or other disciplines where applied quantitative skills matter more than pure mathematics.

Both courses are offered at Higher Level (HL) and Standard Level (SL). We assign tutors with experience in the specific pathway and level your child is studying.

We assign by curriculum, subject, level, and exam-board variant — not just by subject name. An IB Maths AA HL assignment requires a tutor with direct IB experience, knowledge of the IBO assessment objectives, and familiarity with the current Paper 3 format. A general maths tutor is not the same thing.

When you submit the booking form, specifying the subject code, level, and any particular areas of concern (IA, Papers 1–3, calculus, statistics) allows us to assign the most relevant tutor from our IB-specialist roster.

The most effective time to start IB tutoring is at the beginning of DP1 (Year 12), particularly for subjects taken at Higher Level and for students who expect to need IA or Extended Essay support. Starting in September or October gives a tutor the full academic year to identify gaps and build exam technique before mock exams in January.

For students currently in DP1 (Year 12, 2026–27), September 2026 is the optimal starting point — the May 2027 examination session runs from 23 April to 19 May 2027, leaving a full academic year for structured preparation. For DP2 students preparing for May 2027, starting now is still highly effective: even 8–12 focused weeks on Papers 1–3 technique and IA component scores can meaningfully improve predicted grade trajectories before mock exams in January 2027.

ETH Zürich typically requires IB scores of 36 to 38 points or above for entry to STEM programmes, with HL Maths and a science subject specified. UK Russell Group universities set IB conditional offers between 38 and 42 points depending on the programme; offers often include specific HL grade requirements (e.g. 6 in HL Chemistry for medicine). US universities using the Common Application or Coalition Application do not set IB minimum thresholds but evaluate predicted grades in context.

IB tutoring directly supports predicted grade trajectories, which are the grades universities rely on for conditional offers. Improving from a 5 to a 6 in a key HL subject can be the difference between meeting and missing a conditional offer.
